Jammu, June 05:

The UT administration and Shri Amarnath Shrine Board shall be taking a final decision on the conduct of the annual Amarnath yatra by June 15 , while all preparations are being made to facilitate the annual Himalayan pilgrimage .

The administration has made all arrangements to start the yatra as per its original schedule on June 28. It has activated all its agencies to clear the path and set up facilities for the pilgrims from Lakhanpur, the gateway of Jammu and Kashmir to the Himalayan cave shrine of Lord Shiva, better known as Amarnath The informed sources in the Government said that a final decision would be taken after taking into account the total number of infectious people in J&K and the .availability of vaccination . There also is a proposal to vaccinate pilgrims , if the pilgrimage is declared open.

The Indian army chief Gen. M M Naravane has already stated that the army units in Kashmir were ready for the conduct of the yatra. The army goes in for area domination exercise . He had held discussions with the Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha, who also is chairman of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board.

The decline in the caseload in J&K has created an encouraging scenario to hold the yatra for 2021. The hope has been further bolstered by the overall decline in the cases in the country . Most of the pilgrims come from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan , Punjab and Haryana.

The UT government will study the pattern of cases and the status of vaccination in these states while taking a decision.

Meanwhile , the UT administration has started the exercise of vaccinating the service providers of the yatra.
Ganderbal’s district administration has asked Sarpanchs and health officials to ensure that all the service providers including tent owners, shopkeepers, pony operators, labourers and drivers are vaccinated..
