Fit India Movement | Last Year Activities And This Year’s  Interaction

A new initiative in the form of Fit India Movement is taken by the government of India, to promote physical fitness and overall health by involving sports personalities with the movement.

Last year on 29th of August, this initiative was inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi at New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi Stadium. An advising committee was also formed with respect to this campaign, several government officials, IOA (Indian Olympic Association) members along with the members of several sports federation of the country are part of this committee.

Several fitness promoters and sports personalities are also indulged as the brand ambassadors of this initiative. With the help of this initiative, people of India and especially kids at schools will develop a habit of remaining physically fit as well as health along with that people can also fight with the problem of obesity.

Fit India Movement Activities

In order to aware school kids about the importance of staying fit and healthy last year, all the schools affiliated to CBSE board observed Fitness week in November, this week was considered as the part of Fit India Movement initiative.

This activity focused on changing the ‘passive screen time’ of children into ‘active field time’ considering the craze of online gaming and entertainment on social media platforms kids have started losing interest in playing outdoor or non-digital games.

CBSE board schools conducted the successful fitness week campaign for the students of 6th to 8th standard. This fitness week in school not only included the physical fitness activities but the importance of the initiative and ways to promote it in our day to day lives was also the part of the program.

Information About Fit India Movement

The fitness week played an important role to spread awareness about the fit India movement among each and every household of the country. The idea was spreading information about the benefits of doing physical activities and being healthy. Here are the ways in which information about Fit India Movement was dispensed among school children-

  • Group Discussion: PM of India Shri Narendra Modi suggested that the initiative of fit India movement must become an essential part of our lives. With respect to that, a group discussion on several health, fitness and sports-related topics were conducted in schools
  • Debate: The objective of this campaign is not limited to physical fitness. Therefore, debates were also conducted among the students and the topics were again related to sports, fitness as well as mental health
  • Poster Making- Considering the fact that art helps in healing, the students were encouraged to express themselves through art and drawing. The children designed some amazing posters in the support of Fit India Movement
  • The poem, Creative & Essay writing: With the help of creative writing children were encouraged to promote the movement through their creativity and art

Last but not the least quiz was also conducted among the students in order to spread awareness and increase their knowledge regarding several factors related to health and sports.


Things changed after Pandemic

Amidst this pandemic situation organizing, such activities in schools are not safe and therefore, on the celebration of the first anniversary of the movement PM interacted with the brand ambassadors of the movement.

The interaction was completely safe to keep Covid-19 in mind, the interaction took place online through video conferencing. PM Narendra Modi interacted with sports personalities like Virat Kohli and he also had a chat with the supermodel and fitness promoter, Milind Soman.

During the interaction, PM also joked about Milind Soman’s age as he is extremely fit according to his age. Along with that, PM also talked with the captain of Indian cricket team about his love for Chhole Bhature.

On our end, we hope, that Fit India Movement becomes a big hit and people of our country take their mental as well as physical health seriously.
