Gunmen shot dead BJP leader in Tral who was moving without PSO

Unknown gunmen shot at a BJP leader in South Kashmir’s Tral town of Pulwama district this evening.

Reports said that gunmen fired upon a BJP leader at a point-blank range. He has been shifted to hospital in critical condition where doctors declared him brought dead.

The police identified the victim as Rakesh Pandit son of Brij Nath Pandit.

According to police He left his PSOs on leave as the leader had gone to jammu and returned back to the security hotel accommodation in Srinagar.He went to Tral without his PSOs and without informing security wing of the police

Local sources added that Rakesh Pandit was present in the house of his neighbour when gunmen shot at him. A lady has also sustained bullet injury in her leg.

The deceased was President Municipal Committee Tral.

Area has been cordoned off and search operation has been launched to nab the attackers.
