By Kingshuk Kusari: The Indian Premier League 2023 came to a scintillating end with Chennai Super Kings lifting their 5th IPL trophy in a final ball thriller against Gujarat Titans on Tuesday, 30 May.

A long, three-day affair, the IPL 2023 had a fitting end to what had been a tremendous competition between 10 teams. Deep in the tournament, teams were not divided by a lot of points. In fact, the four play-offs positions were decided on the final league match-day of the IPL 2023 when GT defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The season was categorised by incredible performances with the bat and final ball thrillers, a trend that continued till the final of the tournament.

On that note, here are a few of the records that were broken in the IPL this year:

Sensational Batting Efforts

Indian Premier League 2023 saw the most number of centuries hit in a single season. A staggering 12 centuries were hit in the tournament, with Shubman Gill headlining the feat. Gill scored three consecutive centuries in IPL 2023, a first-of-a-kind feat in the history of the league. And who can forget Virat Kohli, who scored consecutive centuries to become the only player with 7 hundreds in IPL history!.

At the top, the likes of Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill tried to target the correct bowlers and take the game deep. On the other hand, finishers like Rinku Singh and Heinrich Klaasen demolished the opposition with their high-quality hitting ability.
