By India Today Sports Desk: Shubman Gill’s exceptional run with the bat in the IPL 2023 continued on Friday when he hit his third hundred of IPL 2023 during Qualifier 2 against Mumbai Indians at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on May 26.

Gill has been in excellent form in international cricket this year, scoring centuries in all formats, including a double century against New Zealand in one-day internationals. He carried this momentum into the IPL 2023, where he was the leading run-scorer for GT and had his most productive season in the competition.
Last week, Gill hit two consecutive hundreds against Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad to become the fourth batter in IPL history to do so, joining Shikhar Dhawan, Jos Buttler, and Virat Kohli. Only Kohli, Rohit Sharma (six) and KL Rahul (six) have more hundreds in T20s than Gill’s five.
Gill had scored 722 runs in 15 matches with an average of 55.54 and a strike rate of 149.17 entering Qualifier 2. He had also hit two hundreds in the previous two league games against SRH and RCB. Gill became the second Indian and fourth overall to break the 800-run barrier during a Qualifier 2 match against the Mumbai Indians. Gill also scored his third IPL century of the season, becoming only the second Indian after Kohli to have three or more hundred in an IPL season.
